Instagram Story Downloader — Save Stories Before They Expire

Download Instagram Stories Free →

Instagram Stories vanish after 24 hours. Whether it is a time-sensitive announcement from a brand you follow, a news moment shared by a journalist, or content from a creator you want to reference later — if you do not save it while it is live, it is gone. Here is how to save it in time.

How to Download an Instagram Story

Step 1 — Get the Story link while it's liveOpen Instagram and tap on the Story you want to save while it is still active. Tap the Share button (paper airplane icon) at the bottom of the Story. In the share options, tap Copy Link. Act quickly — Stories are only available for 24 hours from when they were posted.
Step 2 — Go to dltkk.to immediatelyOpen any browser and go to dltkk.to without delay. Time is the constraint with Stories — they expire and become unavailable after their 24-hour window.
Step 3 — Paste and downloadPaste the Story URL, select MP4 for video Stories or leave on Auto to let dltkk.to detect the media type. For photo Stories, the download produces a JPEG image file. For video Stories, it produces an MP4. Click Download.
Step 4 — Save to your deviceOn iPhone, tap the downloaded file in Safari's download manager and choose Save Video or Save Image depending on the type. On Android, the file saves to your Gallery automatically.

Public Accounts Only

dltkk.to can only download Stories from public Instagram accounts. If an account is set to private, their Stories are only visible to approved followers and Instagram does not serve the content at any publicly accessible URL. This is a server-level access control that no download tool can bypass without credentials. Only Stories from public accounts — where anyone can view the profile without needing to follow — are accessible through dltkk.to.

⚠ Any tool claiming to download Stories from private accounts without your login credentials is a scam designed to steal your Instagram username and password. Never enter your Instagram login details on any third-party website.

Why Stories Expire and Why Downloading Matters

Instagram's 24-hour Story expiry is a deliberate design choice — content feels more urgent and ephemeral, encouraging frequent posting and checking. For followers, this means valuable content disappears. Brand announcements with promotional codes, breaking news shared via Stories, event details, limited offers, and time-sensitive information all live in Stories and are gone in 24 hours unless saved. Downloading Stories you need to reference eliminates the stress of the expiry deadline and gives you a permanent local copy that exists regardless of what happens on Instagram after the 24-hour window.

Downloading Story Highlights

Instagram Story Highlights are collections of past Stories that the account owner has chosen to keep visible permanently on their profile. Highlights do not expire — they stay on the profile until the account owner removes them. Because Highlights contain publicly visible content with stable URLs, they can be downloaded through dltkk.to without the time pressure of expiring Stories. Photo Stories vs Video Stories

Instagram Stories can be either photos or videos. Photo Stories download as JPEG image files. Video Stories download as MP4 video files. dltkk.to automatically detects which type of content is at the URL and downloads the appropriate format. You do not need to specify image vs video manually — the tool handles this automatically based on what Instagram serves for that Story URL.

Your Own Stories — Downloading Them Back

If you posted an Instagram Story and forgot to save the original media file to your camera roll, dltkk.to can retrieve it while it is still within the 24-hour active window. Your own Stories are public if your account is public. Copy the Story link from the share options while it is still live and download it through dltkk.to. This recovers the file before it disappears, though for future Stories the simplest approach is enabling Instagram's built-in Save to Camera Roll option in your Story settings, which automatically saves each Story you post as you post it.
